Description:
The Ergonomics and Health & Safety co-op student will work within the Health and Safety department to conduct ergonomic assessments in production areas, identify risk factors of musculoskeletal injuries, and provide practical improvement suggestions to production departments.
The student will also assist in educating workers on ergonomics best practices and develop task-specific stretching routines based on the physical demands of daily work activities. This position provides hands-on experience in applying ergonomic principles within a real manufacturing environment to reduce repetitive strain injuries and improve worker well-being.
Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday, on-site – 7:30AM to 4:00PM

F&P Mfg., Inc. Co-op Tiered Rate Program
Successful students for F&P Mfg., Inc. Co-op positions will be eligible for our new tiered wage rate program.
Co-op #1 Rate: $23.38 per hour
Co-op #2 Rate: $25.38 per hour
Co-op #3: Rate $26.81 per hour
This program encourages and allows students to continue their subsequent co-op terms with F&P Mfg., Inc. throughout their program of studies to graduation upon receiving a successful and positive evaluation.
Disclosure:
If a student is on their 2nd or 3rd co-op of their respective program and have never completed a co-op program at F&P before, they will be placed into our Co-op #1 rate at $23.38 per hour. Other circumstances can be discussed upon hiring.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct ergonomic assessments of production workstations and tasks
- Observe job tasks and identify ergonomic risk factors such as:
- Repetitive Motions
- Awkward Postures
- Forceful Exertions
- Prolonged Static Positions
- Document findings and provide practical improvement recommendations to supervisors and production departments
- Assist with workstation layout reviews and improvement suggestions
- Develop task-specific stretch routines based on job demands
- Train and education workers on ergonomics best practices and injury prevention techniques
- Assist with job rotation review from an ergonomic perspective
- Support Health & Safety with injury trend analysis related to musculoskeletal injuries
- Participate in workplace inspections with a focus on ergonomic risk factors
- Assist in creating ergonomic awareness materials, posters, and toolbox talks
- Track and follow up on implemented ergonomic improvements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a degree program related to Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable with data entry and working with various software programs (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Suite).
- Prior experience or interest in occupational health and safety or HR functions is an asset.

- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with staff and management
- Ability to adapt to changing requirements and prioritize tasks effectively
Work Environment:
- Primarily office environment. May be required to walk in plant occasionally.
